From my work I know that a large majority of all Ukrainians who immigrated to USA, Canada and Great Britain in the years 1870 through 1930, lived in western Ukraine (Ternopil, Lviv, Uzhgorod, Ivano-Frankovsk regions). There still are people, who remember those days, houses where families lived, letters they wrote. You can find records of the people and their families who lived in east Galicia in the state archives:
Central historical archives in Lviv State Archive of Volyn Oblast (Region) State Archive of Zakarpattia Oblast (Region) State Archive of Ivano-Frankovsk Oblast (Region) State Archive of Ternopol Oblast (Region)
Localized Genealogical Research in the Ukraine and Russia
We can travel quickly and easily in Russia and Ukraine to look for living relatives and trace your family history. Today, with modern technology and the internet, these families can be reunited and family histories can be traced. However, just using the internet is not enough, and we believe our service has several key advantages: We have local knowledge and can easily travel to a particular city or village in East Europe in order to look for and verify local records of people who emigrated.
Translation Services
We speak both Russian and the Ukrainian languages. We also speak and write in English and German, so we can break the language barrier for you.
