A genealogy of the Walowy family in Stryjowka, Hrycowce, and Kretowce in the Administrative District of Zbaraz.

Postcard and photo of Zbaraz courtesy of Susan Gordon.

This picture was taken in early November 2006. If you compare it to the old photo of "ZBARAZ Rynek," taken close to 100 years earlier, you will notice the same building with 3 arched windows and a lovely arched area at the center top. Long ago, this building was third from the end of the street. Now, it stands beside crumbled ruins. I showed both pictures to Izold Spaicier, born in Zbaraz in 1921, and he said it was used as the community center and offices for the Jewish community, and was known as the Kehilah.

Picture owned by Susan J. Gordon, granddaughter of Aron Bialazurker, born in Zbaraz in 1883. It is not to be reproduced or used without her permission.

"Zbaraz (Zbarazh), Ukraine  1829/1831 Homeowners" Database

Gesher Galicia's all-new All Galicia Database's focus is researching Jewish roots in this region.  The information in this database also contains names that span all the ethnic and religious groups who lived in the area, so not everyone listed in this database will necessarily be Jewish.  There are two databases that might be of particular interest .. they are:

Zbaraż Homeowners List (1829)
Zbaraż Homeowners List (1831)
